Senior Web Engineer

Xtranormal is looking for full-time senior web engineers to join our great team in San Francisco. This position will focus on building our web and mobile story telling applications by using confident integration of HTML/CSS/JavaScript layers with a heavy dose of modern tools and approaches.

The ideal candidate should be a strong individual contributor with lead potential, have a collaborative and open style, and take pride in innovative work done well. Great candidates will have built a variety of demoable, interactive web or mobile sites, and have experience building JavaScript-rich full-featured browser-based applications.

Responsibilities:

  • Build new web and mobile applications to support Xtranormal product plans
  • Participate in all aspects of Xtranormal application development, including product and software design, prototyping, code development, test automation, and deployment
  • Own significant portions of critical client-side modules such as movie creation UIs and libraries
  • Maintain existing applications and allocate a portion of time to working a ticket backlog. Support customer bug characterization and issue resolution as needed.
  • Promote high quality of HTML/CSS/JS code and help develop client-side architecture and practices

Requirements:

  • 4+ years experience developing standards-based interactive web pages and full JavaScript applications
  • Comprehensive knowledge of HTML5 and earlier standards with browser quirks, DOM and events, JavaScript syntax, and modular client-side development
  • Reviewable portfolio of interactive web pages, sites, or applications
  • Experience with server-based MVC implementations with templated and Django/Rails/ASP styles of development
  • Bonus for significant skills in a few of the following: mobile web development, HTML Canvas, client-side MVC (Backbone.js, Ember.js) Django/Python, iOS/Objective-C, Android/Java, Flash, SQL/ORM, Unix, video animation/rendering
